Sharon K. Blanch, 60, of Waterloo and formerly of Sumner, died Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Wilson Grove Cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner.
Sharon Kay Blanch, daughter of Robert and Marilyn Wendland Blanch, was born February 5, 1952, at Sumner, Iowa. She was baptized April 14, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner and confirmed April 3, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1970 and from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in 1971. Sharon worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner, Sumner Community Schools in the hot lunch program, and had several babysitting jobs. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Sumner. She served on the Bremer County Legion Auxiliary, and was a board member of the 3rd district of the State American Legion Auxiliary. In addition, she had been the corresponding secretary, recording secretary, and the historian for the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Sharonis survived by her uncle, Don (Mary Beth) Wendland of Jackson, Mississippi; two aunts, Alice Wendland of Fredericksburg and Ruth Blanch of Wisconsin; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert on October 24, 1967, and Marilyn on September 29, 1996; her sister, Shirley on September 23, 1991; and uncles, Bob (Mildred) Wendland, Russell Wendland, and Raymond Blanch.
